The European Commission has established a European Union platform for the exchange of information on beneficiaries of temporary protection and adequate protection (hereinafter referred to as the EU platform for registration). The EU platform for registration allows EU Member States to swiftly exchange information on Ukrainian citizens fleeing Ukraine as a result of the Russian war on Ukrainian territory and who have registered for temporary protection, who could effectively receive the necessary assistance and familiarize themselves with their rights when arriving in EU Member States. This also eliminates double or multiple registrations and limits the potential for temporary abuse of protection. The European Commission developed this technical solution as part of a 10-point plan for stronger European coordination for the reception of people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
When applying for temporary protection under the Temporary Protection Directive, the following personal data shall be collected, which shall be transmitted to the EU platform for registration:
- Name, surname;
- Date and place of birth;
- Citizenship and its type;
- Gender;
- Type, number, issuing State, date of issue, date of validity of identity document;
- Type of protection, Member State of registration and date.
Additional information on a minor, the relationship of relatives with the minor (e.g. mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, etc.), indication of unaccompanied minors.
