Project aim:
The annual work programme of the Latvian Focal Point of the European Migration Network (hereinafter - EMN) is in line with the EMN Work Programme 2023-2025 and EMN Latvia will perform the tasks set out in Council Decision 2008/381/EC of 14 May 2008 establishing the EMN:
- collect and exchange up-to-date and reliable data and information from a variety of sources;
- analyse the data and information referred to in point (a) and make them available in an easily accessible format;
- in cooperation with other relevant EU bodies, help develop indicators and benchmarks to improve the consistency of information and assist the development of Community actions related to migration statistics;
- produce and publish regular reports on the situation in the field of migration and asylum in the Community and the Member States;
- set up and maintain an information exchange system on the Internet providing access to relevant documents and publications in the field of migration and asylum;
- raise awareness of the EMN by providing access to the information it collects and by disseminating the results of its activities, unless this information is confidential;
- coordinate information and cooperate with other relevant European and international bodies.

63 ad-hoc questions answered, 1 ad-hoc question asked, Report on Asylum and Migration in Latvia 2023 drafted and 2024 report launched, OECD Report on Migration in Latvia 2023 drafted.
Data updated in the interactive migration data visualisation tool available at: www.emn.lv/dati. The "Destination: Europe" discussion game was promoted at the "Democracy Festival" for young people.
Version 10 of the EMN Asylum and Migration Glossary has been developed.
In line with the implementation of the EMN Work Programme, representatives of the OCMA participated in meetings of the EMN Focal Points, the Steering Board and other EMN working groups. An expert from the EMN Latvia chairs the EMN Statistical Working Group. The participation of representatives of the State Border Guard in the meetings of the EMN Return Expert Working Group was ensured.
EMN Latvia prepares national migration reports based on publicly available information, statistical data and information provided by the authorities. The reports are submitted to the European Commission, whose service provider prepares synthesis reports.
In 2024, the EMN Latvia has developed national reports for the following research papers:
- The nternational dimension of European Union policy: preventing, combating and protecting victims of trafficking in human beings in Latvia
- Labour migration in times of labour shortages.
The EMN Latvia has contributed to 14 EMN reports and two EMN synthesis reports on "Illegal Employment of Third Country Nationals" and "Application of the Temporary Protection Directive: challenges and good practices in 2023". All publications are available on www.emn.lv
