In order to reduce queues for personal identity documents, as of 16 May the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (hereinafter - the Office) will resume in the territorial units to arrange and issue personal identity documents - passports and personal identity cards or eID cards of citizens and non-citizens - according to the queue, i.e., without making an appointment in advance.
From 16 May according to both, queue as well as applying in advance for an appointment, providing a possibility to arrange a passport and eID card, the customers will be serviced by 27 territorial units of the Office across the whole Latvia, from 17 May such procedure will be available also in Riga 2nd Division of the Office and from the beginning of June also in Riga 3rd Division.
The customers shall take into account that the branch of the Office in Sigulda will continue to service customers pursuant to application in advance for appointment only. Besides, the monthly off-site customer service in Livani and Kraslava will take place pursuant to application in advance for appointment only.
Receipt of services according to queue provides that the customers will be serviced according to the sequence they will arrive to the division, and it will be necessary to wait for receipt of the service, namely, the time of receipt of the service is hard to be predicted unlike the appointment in advance.
Besides, the Office will maintain in the significantly reduced volume the possibility to apply in advance for an appointment, in order to ensure that the customers who do not wish to receive the service according to queue, would be able to apply for receipt of the service at the specific time booked in advance.
The Office informs that according to the queue it will be possible for customers to arrange the passports and eID cards of citizens and non-citizens only. Those customers, who will want to arrange the residence cards, will still have to apply for an appointment in advance for receipt of the service.
Besides, the Office would like to remind that at the same time with arranging and issue of the personal identity documents, the permanent visas with the right to employment and residence permits are also issued for civilians of Ukraine. These persons are serviced without a prior appointment and according to the priority order, i.e., without standing in queue.
It is important to take into account that the Office resumes only the receipt of a passport and eID card according to the queue. Other services - issue of statements, submission of documents for residence permits and visas - are still provided electronically only, and it is not planned to change this procedure in near future.
In this complicated time, the Office would like to ask the customers to be polite towards the employees of the Office, who work in the circumstances of intensive load in order to service customers as soon as possible.
