Divi mazi karodziņi uz galda: Latvijas un United Kingdon

Today we answer the most frequently asked questions from nationals of Great Britain due to Brexit.

I am a national of Great Britain. What should I do to receive a residence permit?

If a national of United Kingdom has moved for life to Latvia until 31 December 2020 and wishes to further stay in Latvia, then he or she, regardless of the fact whether a document of stay (certificate of registration) has or has not been issued to him or her in Latvia until 31 December 2020, has to submit the application to the Office and receive a new residence permit until 30 June 2021.

You may read about the procedure for requesting a new residence permit and find application samples for requesting a permit HERE

Can a national of Great Britain, who as entered Latvia after 30 December 2020, work in Latvia during the initial period of 90 days, when he or she has not yet received a residence permit?

Provisions of the Immigration Law, which do not provide for the right to employment before receipt of the relevant visa or residence permit, fully refer to the nationals of Great Britain and their family members, who have entered Latvia after 30 December 2020.
