From March 21, the Riga Support Center for Residents of Ukraine will be located in the former building of Riga Technical University at Kaļķu Street 1. Until March 18, customer service will continue in the unified support center at the Riga Congress House.
As before, the support center on Kaļķu Street will provide both state and municipal services. Upon arrival at the center, its staff will find out if the person has signed up for the service in advance and arrived at a specific time of the visit. If there is no registration, it is possible to pick up a room and wait for your turn on the same day, or sign up for visits to the center on another day at a specific time.
As before, the municipal customer service specialists working at the center will ensure the registration of the information of the person who has arrived from Ukraine. Employees of the Municipal Social Service, in turn, will advise on the possibilities of receiving social benefits, on the social support system in Latvia, and other social care services. At the support center, citizens from Ukraine can apply for crisis benefits, guaranteed minimum income benefits, housing benefits, a certificate to receive EU food parcels, as well as, for example, social rehabilitation and psychological support. Each customer is informed about the payment of the benefit and the place and time of receiving the parcels separately.
At the center, municipal education specialists will help residents of Ukraine to apply for a child at a school or kindergarten in Riga. All visitors to the center will be offered to receive SIM cards of Latvian mobile phone operators. People who stay in Riga will be issued an e-ticket with 20 trips on Riga public transport, as well as a free gift card for a visit to the Riga Zoo.
The State Border Guard is also continuing its work at the support center. The coordination of housing issues will continue to be ensured by the specialists of the State Fire and Rescue Service,
Representatives of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs will help the center to deal with visas and identity documents. Customers who have previously applied for visas will be able to receive them at Kalku Street 1.
Residents of Ukraine will also be able to receive consultations from the State Employment Agency on job opportunities at the Kalku Street 1 center, as well as learn about opportunities to apply for unemployment status. The specialists of the National Health Service working at the center will continue to provide people with consultations on the possibilities to register with a family doctor, receive medical services and the necessary medicines.
The "I Want to Help Refugees" movement and other NGOs will also continue to work at the support center, informing volunteers about NGO offerings and liaising with organizations that can help with clothing, property, legal services or other support.
The support center at Kaļķu Street 1 will be open every working day from 9.00 to 18.00. An information point will continue to operate in the Congress House from March 21, where it will be possible to find out about the municipality and other services provided to refugees.
