The Office of Citizenship and Migration Office (hereinafter - the Office) reminds that visas and residence permits that were issued to the Ukrainian civilians until 31 December 2022 shall be valid until 4 March 2024, although they have expired.
The Office recommends the state and municipal authorities as well as employers to consider that the scope of rights granted to the Ukrainian civilians - right to employment, tenancy (in accordance with the concluded agreement), banking and other services - shall remain in force until 4 March 2024, without receiving a new temporary residence permit.
Ukrainian civilians currently need to require a new temporry residence permit in three events:
1) if a person needs to travel abroad from the territory of the Republic of Latvia. At the same time the Office notes that in cases when the person refuses from the status of temporary protection in the Republic of Latvia and travels abroad to another country or returns to Ukraine, a new temporary residence permit will not be issued;
2) if a visa or residence permit issued to the person is lost or become void due to the fact that it is damaged or the data specified therein have changed;
3) if it is necessary to use the possibilities of the electronic signature.
In order to receive a new residence permit, the Ukrainian civilians shall submit the application for a residence permit and a copy of the travel document. It can be performed in presence at Riga Support Centre for Ukrainian civilians (Riga, at Amatu iela 4), as well as the state and municipal uniform customer service centre. Besides, the documents can be sent via mail to any of 29 territorial units of the Office or electronically to the e-maila address of any territorial unit, signing the documents enclosed with the application with a safe electronic signature, if a person has such.
It is possible to find more detailed information as well as samples of the questionnaire and application form in Latvian and Ukrainian language on the website of the Office www.pmlp.gov.lv in the section “Support for Ukraine” (https://www.pmlp.gov.lv/lv/atbalsts-ukrainai-pidtrimka-ukraini-0).
