What are the regulations for a visa application for family members of citizens of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland?
- A family member of a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland (if the said citizen is not a citizen of Latvia), who himself/herself is not a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, is not required to have the invitation approved by the OCMA prior to submitting his/her visa application, as prescribed by the legislation (if the applicant submits a document verifying the relationship and if his/her purpose for residence is to accompany the citizen of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland;
- If a family member of a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland (if the said citizen is not a citizen of Latvia), who himself/herself is not a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, may be issued a visa at a border control point;
- A family member of a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland (if the said citizen is not a citizen of Latvia), who himself/herself is not a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, is not required to pay fee for the examination of the application for a visa if his/her entry is associated with the obtaining of a residence permit together with the family member – the citizen of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland.
- A family member of a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland (if the said citizen is not a citizen of Latvia), who himself/herself is not a citizen of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, is not required to have a visa to enter the Republic of Latvia and is allowed to stay up to 90 days upon the day he/she entered the country, if he has been issued the residence permit of a family member of the citizen of the European Union in any of the member states of the European Union.
